Crazy Ex-girlfriends are something society often talks about. Whether the girl is actually crazy or not, men always talk about their "crazy" ex-girlfriend. With today's society, there is not a set definition as to what makes someone a crazy ex. It could be that they talked about you after, they blocked you on social media, or they started posting excessively on social media showing how much fun they're having to try and make the other feel bad. Depending on the other ex, these actions could be deemed as crazy. Now, with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, what exactly makes Rebecca crazy? While Julia does an excellent job explaining the plot of the show and how it is funny, I still don't get how exactly Rebecca is a "crazy" ex-girlfriend. In the music videos I watched, "Face Your Fears," and "Settle For Me," Rebecca seemed like the normal person. In fact, it was her friend and the guy in both videos that seemed crazy. The girl in the "Face Your Fears," video increasingly suggests more outlandish things. From running with scissors to getting stung by bees and not going to school (the little kid choir sings after this line saying "school is stupid,") Rebecca is visibly confused by this "motivational" song and seems to almost break the fourth wall as she continuously tells her to stop. Incongruity humor is extremely prevalent in this song as the girl singing gets extremely carried away and suggests outrageous things. Another part I found funny was just at the beginning of the song right when the girl started to get carried away, Rebecca says, who are you singing to sing to me. This seemed like a fourth wall break in a sense which I found to be quite humorous and shows how the show "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" is very funny.
Very good analysis of the songs and I really like how you questioned why Rebeccas was considered crazy.
